I need to start taking pictures!

pictures would make this so much better, ll try remember to take more, like last nights dinner, meatballs and pasta, it was so good! i have never made meat balls before but it was really easy.

i can give you the recipe for the meatballs but the sauce i just made up, tomato paste, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, garlic and some salt. just put together to your taste and i added water to thin it out as i went.

the meat balls;
serves 2 or 3

250g beef mince
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
salt and herbs to flavor to your preference

mix all the ingredients together and roll into balls (about 2-3cm in diameter)
simmer in the sauce for 30-40 minutes, stir lots or it will burn
serve over pasta

this meal was so easy and one of my new favorites.

i served it with a simple green salad to get some veggies in.
remember small portions, i had a cup of cooked pasta, and a half cup of meatballs, plus maybe a few secret extras ;) and a cup of salad. it didn't look like a lot but i was easily filled up.

Portions amaze me!

lately i have been looking at eating healthier, including eating smaller portions. apparently portion sizes have increased by 40% over the last few years. my interest in portion sizes started with looking at bento boxes, i found out that you can roughly estimate how many calories are in your bento by how many ml the box holds (e.g. if the box holds 400ml thats 400 calories if you follow the rules)

the main bento rules  that i follow are;
4,3,2,1 meaning you meal should be 4 parts rice etc, 3 parts veg, 2 parts protein, and 1 part sweet.
the meal should not have to be heated or refrigerated
and there should be as little waste as possible

i try and follow this rule for my other meals as well

if you google it you can find out how many calories you require a day. For me to stay the same weight i would need about 700 calories per meal, thats 700ml so almost 3 cups of good food. i try eat a bit less than that, around 2 cups.

so the part that surprises me is how little food this is! i used to eat at least twice this, but i tried it for a bit and it fills me up when i follow the 4,3,2,1 rule.

also with trying this i feel healthier, crave less junk food and assume i will slowly loose weight.

i just love how healthy it is to eat like this. if you don't believe its enough then try a bit more than you is required at first and slowly try less. i even got Micah to join in, we both feel healthier and have a lot more energy.
